In this kōrero, Che Wilson shares how tūpuna wisdom and indigenous solutions can guide us in responding to today’s challenges.  

Che Wilson was the Mātauranga Māori keynote speaker at our second He Kete Mātauranga Hui, held over two days in March 2025 at Te Puna Creative Hub in Henderson.

Che is Poukura of Naia Limited, a Māori consultancy where he focuses principally on the tūpuna wisdom space as a guest speaker, researcher, leadership mentor and facilitator. He is currently leading regional research on the ceremonies and knowledge associated with the star Puanga and the application of tūpuna weather forecasting and seasonal changes to current land use. Che has experience as Deputy Secretary for the Ministry for the Environment and president of Te Pāti Māori and is currently on Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga board.
